**Have a grab bag**
If you had to evacuate recently due to flooding/slips, there’s a likelihood that you may need to evacuate again. If you feel unsafe then we encourage you to self-evacuate now. Make a plan - as roads may be closed later today.
You will need essential items that you can carry with you. It’s ideal to store these items in a grab bag, ready for you to take if you have to leave in a hurry.
Basic supplies to have in a grab bag in case you have to evacuate:
Torches and batteries.
Radio (solar, wind up or battery-powered).
Hand sanitiser.
Cash.
Copies of important documents (online or paper). You can do this by taking a photo or a scan of an important document on your smartphone.
Walking shoes, warm clothes, raincoat and hat.
First aid kit and prescription medicine.
Water and snack food (remember babies and pets too).
Chargers for your phone and any other devices you may need. If your car has a 12v power outlet or a cigarette lighter, consider including a USB phone charger which will plug into it.

**If told to evacuate**
If told to evacuate by authorities, please do so immediately. They will not ask you to leave unless they think your life may be in danger. Self-evacuate if you feel unsafe. Take your grab bag with you if possible, but do not travel into any evacuation zone to collect it if you do not have it with you.

Take your pets and other animals with you only if it will not delay you. Do not spend time looking for them, and do not return to get them if you are not at home.

**Livestock**
Move stock to higher ground if you haven’t already.

**Limit travel**
17 roads are currently closed across Tasman District, and we're expecting more closures due to tree falls from heavy winds.
Contractors will be limited in their ability to respond to fallen trees while winds are blowing.
Please stay off the roads if you can. It may be dangerous with flooding, erosion or tree fall. Refrain from clearing fallen trees on roads, as there is a danger of further tree falls.
If you need to evacuate, please plan your journey in advance, if possible.
