As we enter day 3, more of the impacts are coming to light, and our Welfare teams are stepping up to provide information and connect people for assistance.


Yesterday Fire Emergency New Zealand took to the air in helicopters to get a good understanding of what is happening in areas that are still not accessible by land.

QUICK FAQS:

  • There are still significant road closures across Tasman
  • Kohatu to Kawatiri is still CLOSED
  • Rocks Road Southbound is CLOSED
  • Tapawera to Kohatu is OPEN
  • A Civil Defence Centre will be open today from 9am at the Motueka Recreation Centre
  • There are some cell towers down across the region (including St Arnaud and Spark customers around Wakefield). Crews are working as quickly as possible to resolve these.
  • The Rahui is still in place
  • The boil water notice remains in place for Tapawera, Eighty Eight Valley, Redwood, Dovedale and Motueka bore supplies (note: Motueka public supply is okay).
  • Treat all water as contaminated. Please refrain from body boarding in flood waters.
