Returning home after a flood
Returning home after a significant flood event can be a very emotional and distressing time as your home may not look the same. Try to prepare yourselves and your loved ones for this.
  • Floodwaters may continue to threaten your property. Only return home once it is safe to do so.
  • Do not use power/gas till your supplier has checked and informed you it is safe to use.
  • If possible, keep children and animals away from flooded zones.
Before you start cleaning up, take photos of your home and the damaged caused as evidence to give your insurance company.
If you’ve had water go through your home or other building and need assistance, please call your local council who can send out Building Inspectors to check the structures and give you advice about how to make them safe.
