Heavy rain warning issued

A heavy rain warning for the Nelson Tasman area was issued by Metservice at 8.24 am, Friday 13 August. An active front is expected to move slowly eastwards across much of New Zealand during today. The front is expected to bring a period of heavy rain. Residents are advised to watch out for rapidly rising rivers and streams. Details are as follows:
THE RANGES OF NORTHWEST NELSON
In the 13 hours from 9am Friday to 10pm Friday, expect 100 to 140mm of rain. Peak intensities of 20 to 25mm per hour.
FREEZING LEVEL: 1700 metres, rising to 2700 metres.
THE MARLBOROUGH SOUNDS AND RICHMOND RANGES In the 14 hours from 9am Friday to 11pm Friday, expect 80 to 120mm of rain. Peak intensities of 15 to 20mm per hour.
